A Pearl of a Day

It may still be winter on the calendar, but spring was definitely in the air as I made my commute to the Library of Congress for a day of research yesterday. With bright blue sky, brilliant sunshine, temperatures in the low 70s and 40 mile-per-hour winds blowing in a cold front later that night, I was more than ready for a warm (if a bit blustery) day.

To mark the welcome sunshine, I chose a vintage tea-length jumper (remember those?) of tiny cream flowers on soft brown cotton with a flirty peplum detail at the self-belted waist and distinctive pearl buttons down the front by D.L. Fashions, which I purchased at JCPenney over twenty years ago.  Long ago I lost the cream-colored blouse that went with the jumper, so I paired it with a similar organza blouse with a built-in camisole and a soft bow-tie by A.N.A. (A New Approach) for JCPenney which I bought last year.

I added a pearl bracelet and necklace that I purchased several years ago in the gift shop of Henry duPont's gorgeous Winterthur estate in Delaware, some pearl earrings that belonged to my grandmother, a brown bead and pearl fashion ring, nude high-heeled pumps by Call It Spring for JCPenney, and a beautiful pearlescent glass bead and crystal bracelet that was a Christmas gift from my best friend's mother, Joyce.

More than one person stopped to compliment me on my outfit at the Library of Congress.  What a brilliant, sunshiny day!
Cheers,
Lynell

  1. Love the sheer white blouse w/tie. It looks like cotton candy!
