Tuesday was a gorgeous, spring-like day in Baltimore, with clear skies giving way to puffy clouds in the afternoon, and temperatures reaching 80 degrees. In early March! To celebrate the balmy weather, I broke out my spring wardrobe, a vintage short-sleeved skirt suit by Danny and Nicole for JCPenney that I purchased in the early 1980s. It’s a little big for me now, so instead of belting it with the self-fabric skinny belt that came with the suit, I cinched the waist with a wide leather belt from Chico’s.
I tried on a number of shoes with the outfit and finally settled on beige and brown spectator pumps from Aldo with a stacked-wood heel. The suit needed a little flair and something to tie all those warm colors together, so I added a leopard-print scarf that belonged to my grandmother. Together with gold-metal earrings from CountryDoor.com, a gold-metal bracelet-watch from Chico’s, a beaded fashion ring from Pier One Imports and my cognac leather tote for research papers and reading material, I felt "well-suited" to attack my workday at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.
Two elderly ladies stopped me in the halls of the library to tell me how "elegant" my outfit looked. Indeed.
Cheers!
Lynell
And it is elegant!
